Job Title: Substitute Teacher
Reports to: Principal and Teacher(s) Assigned

Primary Purpose:
Instruct students and facilitate their learning in the absence of the regular teacher.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma
Experience:
Experience working with children preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Ability to work well with children
Ability to communicate effectively
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret lesson plans, technical procedures, and textbooks
Ability to write general correspondence
Ability, both orally and in writing, to present information effectively and respond appropriately to questions and concerns from individuals, administrators, parents, and students.
Ability to always communicate using correct grammar.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Skills:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardizations exists.
Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form and to understand abstract and concrete variables.
Ability to use available information and develop realistic long-term and short-term plans for curricular goals.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, staff, and parents through oral and written communication.
Ability to perform duties with awareness or corporation requirements.
Ability to implement lessons based on corporation and school objectives and student needs and abilities.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Support
1. Provide classroom instruction to students as outlined in lesson plans.
2. Maintain established routine of the school and classroom procedures in which assigned.
3. Maintain a professional appearance as an example to students.
4. Remain at school the entire school day, unless otherwise instructed to leave by the campus principal.
5. Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and times designated.
6. Complete other duties as assigned.
Classroom Management and Organization
7. Create a classroom that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
8. Maintain a safe and orderly environment.
9. Maintain established routine of the school and classroom procedures in which assigned.
10. Maintain a professional appearance as an example to students.
11. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
12. Maintain reasonable rules of conduct which encourage self-discipline and responsibility.
13. Communicate effectively with parents when needed.
14. Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and times designated.
15. Complete other duties as assigned.
16. Make teacher aware of special needs or problems of individual students.
